Brief CV
Luís López Alonso obtained his bachelor’s degree in 2020 in Ciencias del Lenguaje y Estudios Literarios, and in 2021 he earned his master’s degree in Lingüística Aplicada, both from the Universidade de Vigo. He also holds a Pharmacy Degree from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (2002). He received two academic excellence awards from the Universidade de Vigo: one for students beginning Master’s studies (Premio á excelencia académica para o alumnado que comeza estudos de mestrado 2020/2021) and another for students beginning PhD studies (Premio á excelencia académica para o alumnado que inicia estudos de doutoramento 2021/2022).
His research focuses on the study of linguistic minoritisation and processes of language domination from a critical and political sociolinguistic perspective. It is specially directed towards the relationship between the Galician language and other languages. He is also interested in the theoretical and epistemological foundations of the contemporary sociolinguistics and linguistics more broadly. He was one of the researchers in the project “Lingua e sociedade no ensino secundario obrigatorio e no bacharelato”, a collaborative agreement between the council Deputación de Pontevedra and the Universidade de Vigo.
Finally, his research extends to the area of literary theory, with a particular focus on poetic creation, communication, and thought. In this area, in addition to publishing academic works, he is also the author of several poetry collections, collaborations, speeches, and interdisciplinary artistic works.
