BITRAGA
Since 2004, the BITRAGA research group has been developing, the library Biblioteca da Tradución Galega. This library provides bibliographic references for literary texts translated into and from Galician. The aim of this project is to highlight the political and cultural importance of translated literature.
This catalogue promotes scientific data exchange among all those interested in this field of knowledge: translators, publishers, professional associations, writers’ associations, and the academic community, as well as any other public or private organisations and institutions.
In this initial phase, the Biblioteca da Tradución Galega includes literary translations published from 1980 to the present. This is an ongoing and expanding project, open to suggestions and contributions to enrich the catalogue.
Grupo de Investigación Traducción & Paratraducción (T&P)
The PhD programme Doutoramento en Tradución e Paratradución (T&P) examines how, throughout history, translation and interpreting have been essential practices in the construction of cultures and in their capacity for change. Cultures are the result of an ongoing negotiation of translated texts, whether linguistic, iconic, or symbolic. Translators and interpreters act as agents that are capable of driving social and political transformation in the management of public services. In the vast majority of cases, we live in hybrid realities: we read translated texts, see adapted images, and consume localised products that have been shaped by processes of translation and interpreting.
Grupo TALG (Tecnoloxías e Aplicacións da Lingua Galega)
Here you can also access a range of public resources in linguistic technology developed by the TALG group, as the SLI Spanish-Galician machine translation system, the RILG consultation platform, the OrtoGal online spell checker for Galician, the Multilingual Galnet Dictionary, the Galician Synonym Dictionary, the CLUVI Corpus with parallel texts, the CTG (Galician Technical Corpus), the SensoGal Corpus with lemmatised and semantically-tagged parallel translations, the Neoteca database of Galician neologisms, the Aquén tool for consulting Galician toponymy, and the Freeling, SLI-Tagger and Lingaliza taggers for the automatic linguistic analysis of Galician.
GRADES (Gramática, Discurso e Sociedade)
The GRADES research group is composed of researchers from the areas of Spanish Language and General Linguistics from the Universidade de Vigo. Its main aim is to conduct basic and applied research on language and linguistic systems from a socio-discursive and functional perspective. Our teaching activities are delivered across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the Facultade de Filoloxía e Tradución, as well as in the Programa de Doctorado Interuniversitario en Estudios Lingüísticos (interuniversity doctoral programme in linguistic studies).
BiFeGa

The aim of BifeGa is to conduct interdisciplinary research based on current methodologies in Literary and Cultural Studies in Galician, Portuguese, and English; in Translation, Interpreting, and Terminology Studies in English, French, German, Galician, and Spanish; as well as in Feminist and Gender Studies.
The excellence and international impact of our scientific output stand out. This is also reflected in the amount of cultural and linguistic contexts in which we publish (German, Spanish, French, Galician, English, and Portuguese), as well as the international, national, and regional research projects we have led or participated in, and the numerous agreements with national and international institutions.
Some members of BiFeGa hold leadership positions in organisations at regional and international level, with which numerous collaborations are maintained, such as the Association of Programmes in Translation and Interpreting UK and Ireland, the Fundación Rosalía de Castro in Galicia, and the I Cátedra Internacional José Saramago at the Universidade de Vigo.
GALMA
The aim of GALMA is to promote research, training and knowledge transfer in the area of media accessibility for the benefit of people who, for different reasons, cannot have access to original audiovisual media. The work carried out within GALMA is aligned with a wide notion of media accessibility that concerns people with disabilities, cognitive impairments and learning or age-related difficulties, but also users without disabilities who may need linguistic access to audiovisual content produced in a foreign language. Researchers working at GALMA are thus concerned with a wide range of topics regarding different audiovisual translation modalities (subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing, audiodescription for the blind and partially sighted, dubbing, media interpreting, etc) and special attention is paid to two issues: quality in media accessibility and the integration of media accessibility as part of the audiovisual production process.

Specialised communication and translation: analysis and description of specialised genres, with particular attention to scientific, legal, and economic domains, and to the most relevant aspects related to the translation of this type of genre. Bilingual Galician-Spanish lexicography.
Sociology of translation: analysis and description of the intercultural aspects of linguistic mediation and analysis and description of the translation of minority languages. Literary self-translation and heterolingualism.
Translation and open-source software: analysis and promotion of the use of open-source software in translator training, as well as the promotion of cooperation between students, professors, and professional translators with the communities involved in the localisation of these types of software.
